Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Brings the 90s Back for Christmas With Turtleneck and Fanny Pack

Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson Brings the 90s Back for Christmas With Turtleneck and Fanny Pack

Dwayne Johnson delivered a Christmas-styled flashback to the 90s for his fans as he decked himself out with some cool clothes. Oh yeah, we cannot overlook the fanny pack either. Johnson, who, of course, is known worldwide as “The Rock,” took time out from being Dwanta Claus to shoot a cool video.

In it, Johnson sings his own version of “The Christmas Song.” No, you won’t get this one mixed up with Nat King Cole’s classic version. Johnson tweaks the words in a few places yet maintains the melody throughout.

Some of you might wonder why he was dressed in a turtleneck and that dang fanny pack. A few years ago, an old-school photo of him with hair and sideburns made its way around the internet. When “The Rock” noticed this happening, he decided to lean in and have fun with it.

The look he has in this video is truly some old-school “Rock” wear. And the hair and sideburns? WWE fans can remember when Johnson had that look as a member of the Nation of Domination. Still, it’s pretty cool to see him have fun with a look that is a call-back to earlier times.

Dwayne Johnson Offers Feedback on Fanny Pack

Back in 2016, Johnson did get into some detail about his clothing choices when chatting with People Magazine. “Alright, so here’s the thing,” Johnson said. “It takes a lot of confidence to rock a fanny pack. Put your thumb in the fanny pack. I’m giving a look.

“I’ve got a tissue underneath my elbow because I felt like my turtleneck was expensive,” he said. “The funniest thing about this picture is, this is not a joke. I walked out of the house like this. Like: ‘Hey baby, this is it, right?’”

His fans got a new perspective on the dress attire thanks to Johnson’s good friend Kevin Hart. For Halloween, Hart got himself all dressed up like the 90s version of “The Rock.”

After getting through the holiday season, Johnson will get back to work in the movie world. He’s planning to star in a live-action version of Moana. Johnson provided the voiceover for Maui, so look for him to play the same role in this flick. He’s also going to be working on Red One, co-starring with Chris Evans.

Recently, Johnson has been busy eyeing up both current and future projects. He’s got a number of them lined up once he has time to get around to them all. There’s no doubt that Johnson keeps himself busy with the movie world.

But his wrestling fans are also keeping their hopes up that he will make a return in 2024. There have been some rumors going around that Johnson might want a match against WWE Superstar Roman Reigns. Nothing has been finalized, though, about an appearance at WrestleMania. It could be that his movie schedule gets in the way of taking a match on when the two-day event takes place.

Whenever someone asks Johnson about returning to the WWE for one more match, he usually offers up a “never say never” quote. The possibility always is on the table for Johnson. All of it comes down to timing and his schedule. We’ll have to wait and see.

Johnson, though, will be focusing on his movie career in the meantime.
