During her recent appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show earlier this week, Parton spoke about how she met Reeves through his mother Patricia Taylor. The country music legend said Taylor designed her famous 1978 Playboy cover outfit. “She did a lot of sewing for me,” Parton explained. “She did a lot of my clothes.”
Dolly Parton said she remembered Reeves when he was just a little child. “[Patricia] would bring him over to my house when we were fitting or when I would go to the shop where she worked.”
Parton also said she and Reeves reunited randomly a few years later when she was doing a show somewhere. She noted that Reevees was already famous at the time and knocked on her door.
“He said, ‘Do you remember me? I’m the little boy that used to sit at your feet when my mom was [working],’” Dolly Parton recalled. “Of course, I knew he had become a star but it didn’t connect to me that that was who that was.”
Parton recreated the Playboy bunny look for her husband Carl Thomas Dean’s birthday in 2021. She posted a video of her in the outfit as well. “You’re probably wondering why I’m dressed like this,” she said in the video. “Well, it’s for my husband’s birthday. Remember some time back I said I was gonna pose on Playboy magazine when I’m 75? Well, I’m 75 and they don’t have a magazine anymore, but my husband always loved the original cover of Playboy.”
Parton went on to add that she was trying to think of something to do to make him happy, and the outfit came to mind. “He still thinks I’m a hot chick after 57 years and I’m not gonna try to talk him out of that.”
Dolly Parton Finds Out that Keanu Reeves Actually Wore Her Playboy Bunny Costume for Halloween
Meanwhile, Drew Barrymore revealed to Dolly Parton that Keanu Reeves actually wore her 1978 Playboy Bunny costume for Halloween.
“Did he? Aw, that’s sweet,” Parton declared. “He’s great. He’s the sweetest guy.”
Reeves revealed he actually wore the outfit for Halloween during an appearance on Jada Pinkett Smith’s Red Table Talk in 2021. He said that Parton did not take the cover outfit home, so he decided to make it into a Halloween costume. “So I put on the ears and the bustier,” Reeves recalled. “I wore sneakers with fishnet stockings and the bowtie. I had some pretty long hair. And I was Dolly Parton’s Playboy Bunny.”
