Dolly Parton’s Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit Sparks ‘SI Swimsuit’ Nomination

Dolly Parton’s Cowboys Cheerleader Outfit Sparks ‘SI Swimsuit’ Nomination

Dolly Parton’s recent risque ensemble – a Dallas Cowboys cheerleader outfit – earned the singer a Sports Illustrated Swimsuit nomination!

Dolly Parton being in the headlines is far from a rare occurrence, but her halftime performance at the Dallas Cowboys game against the Washington Commanders on Thanksgiving Day made particularly big waves. The 77-year-old icon appeared on stage sporting a replica of the Dallas Cowboys’ cheerleading uniform, sparking heated debates in every corner of the internet.

In the immediate aftermath of the event, some took to social media to mock the Queen of Country for her revealing attire, claiming the septuagenarian was “too old” for the cheerleading costume. The vast majority, however, praised the singer, defending her from any detractors. Those on the Dolly defense team included her sister, Stella Parton, as well as The View host, Whoopi Goldberg.

Now, Christie Brinkley has added her name to the list of Dolly Parton defenders, the former Sports Illustrated Swimsuit model proclaiming the singer not only rocked the cheerleading outfit but looked so good in it there should be an SI Swimsuit cover shoot in her future!

“Whoever had the nerve to suggest that the one and only Dolly Parton should dress her age, should sit down!” Brinkley wrote on Instagram alongside a throwback shot of herself and Parton. “You should know you can’t define an icon like Dolly Parton by a number! Also immeasurable are her too numerous to count talents, her boundless good energy and effervescent humor, and her golden philanthropic heart full of love!”

“The fact that she can also rock a Dallas cheerleader outfit too, is inspiring and fun! Oh and not to mention Dolly Parton is also topping Billboards chart this week! Brava! You go girl! I’ll cut this short like your killer outfit and just say, I LOVE YOU DOLLY! Maybe [Sports Illustrated Swimsuit] is next?”

Dolly Parton’s Sister Speaks Out in Passionate Defense of Cheerleading Outfit

When Dolly Parton’s sister, Stella Parton, caught wind of people criticizing the singer for her choice of clothing for her halftime performance, she quickly took to X (formerly Twitter) to defend the country star.

“I personally thought my big sister Dolly was cute as hell in her Dallas Cowboys cheerleading costume at the half time show on Thanksgiving,” Parton wrote. “To those of you being so critical of a 77 year old kicking up her heels, I say f–k yourself. Shame on you not her.”

Negative comments regarding Dolly Parton’s Dallas Cowboys cheerleader costume were few and far between. Yes, the country star is 77, but she’s always had an unfailing dedication to being true to herself. And that includes her signature style. In the premiere episode of “What Would Dolly Do? Radio,” she gave her honest reaction to any would-be critics today.

“I’d say, ‘Go to hell. I ain’t doing it,’” Parton said. “My true belief with most things, you’ve got to really find out who you are, what makes you happy, what you’re comfortable in, and if you feel like you look your best, according to your rules, then you are going to do your best. I really believe that. And I think everybody has their own little things they love. To me, that is what fashion is.”
