Does Dick Van Dyke Have Any Kids? All About the ‘Mary Poppins’ Icon’s Family

Dick Van Dyke played a pretty cool father on The Dick Van Dyke Show and, as it turned out, he stayed that way in real life. Sure, Van Dyke has admitted he wasn’t always the best father to his four children. He openly talks about his battle and recovery from alcoholism.

But Van Dyke did his best to hang around his kids as much as possible. With Margie Willet, his late ex-wife, they had four children named Christian, Barry, Stacy, and Carrie Beth. All of them, at some point and time, appeared on The Dick Van Dyke Show, Diagnosis: Murder, or The New Dick Van Dyke Show with Dick. Dick has given Willet credit for raising his four children. Among them, a lot of people remember seeing Barry star with his dad in the CBS series Diagnosis: Murder.

Barry Van Dyke

Barry Van Dyke was born on July 31, 1951, the second of four children. At 9 years old, he appeared on The Dick Van Dyke Show and had an interest in show business.

Dick, though, made Barry wait until after high school. Barry said that his father wanted him to enjoy growing up. Barry Van Dyke, thanks to his father’s help, did get an agent, People reports. It helped him land spot appearances on shows like Galactica 1980, Airwolf, and Casino. In 1993, he started playing Steve Sloan alongside his father on TV. Barry has been married to Mary Carey since 1974 and they have four children: Shane, Carey, Taryn, and Wes.

Christian Van Dyke

Christian is the oldest of the four Van Dyke children, born on May 13, 1950. In 1962, he appeared as Frankie on The Dick Van Dyke Show. Yet Christian did not stick with show business.

He attended Occidental College in Los Angeles. Then, Christian Van Dyke headed over to Arizona State University to get a law degree. He graduated and moved to Oregon, where he practiced law in different cities. Van Dyke also served as corporate counsel for Nike and vice president of marketing at Patagonia.

He and his former wife Caroline Heller had three children. Their daughter, Jessica, sadly died when she was 13 years old.

Stacy Van Dyke

These days, Stacy Van Dyke pretty much stays out of the public limelight. What we do know, though, is that she was born in about 1955. Stacy appeared in The New Dick Van Dyke Show and Diagnosis: Murder.

In an interview, Dick Van Dyke admitted to being impressed with his daughter’s acting in school plays.

Stacy, in the 1970s, was active in theater with the Barnstormers in the Phoenix area. In 1979, she married Mike Breen, who was a musician in the group. The most recent public performance Stacy did was with her husband was in 2017, releasing a recording of Away in a Manger before Christmas.

Carrie Beth Van Dyke

Much like her sister, Carrie has shied away from the spotlight. She was born in 1961, ultimately appearing in a couple of episodes of The New Dick Van Dyke Show in the 1970s.

Carrie got married in 1983 to actor and musician Kevin McNally. McNally picked up some appearances in Diagnosis: Murder. In 2015, McNally put out a song via SoundCloud titled Searching Your Eyes. He said that he wrote and recorded the song when he and Carrie first started dating.

These days, Carrie and Kevin live in Los Angeles. They reportedly have two children and remain married.
