Dana Carvey is speaking out against media outlets after suddenly losing his eldest son, Dex.
The former Saturday Night Live star posted a candid picture of Dex on X today, making it clear that the 32-year-old was a person, not clickbait.
“F*ck the tabloids,” he wrote. “This is my boy.”
Dex Carvey passed away on Wed. November 15, from an apparent accidental drug overdose. According to TMZ, his girlfriend alerted authorities after he locked himself inside a bathroom. When first responders arrived, they unsuccessfully attempted to revive him. Dex was pronounced dead on the scene.
Dana and Paula Carvey Post Tribute to Son Dex
In life, Dex had been an actor and stand-up comedian like his father. He starred in films, such as Joe Dirt 2: Beautiful Loser, and performed in a Netflix special titled Straight White Male.
Immediately following his death, Dana and his wife, Paula, posted a moving tribute to their late son.
“It’s not an exaggeration to say that Dex loved life,” they wrote. “And when you were with him, you loved life, too. He made everything fun. But most of all, he loved his family, his friends, and his girlfriend, Kaylee.”
Dana and Paula also noted how much work and creativity Dex “packed” into his short life. The entertainer had been working on not just acting and stand-up skits but also music, art, and filmmaking.
“To anyone struggling with addiction or who loves someone struggling with addiction, you are in our hearts and prayers,” they concluded.
