Cindy Crawford Reflects on Meeting Princess Diana and Her Sons With Throwback Picture

Legendary ’90s supermodel Cindy Crawford recently had a sort of cameo in an episode of Netflix’s The Crown, and it sparked memories of her meeting the late Princess Diana and her then-teenage sons, William and Harry.

In the episode, old posters of Crawford, Claudia Schiffer, and Naomi Campbell became the topic of conversation when Prince Phillip discovered them hanging on Prince William’s wall. William shyly apologized for displaying them, but Phillip explained it was perfectly normal.

Cindy Crawford shared the scene on her Instagram page and revealed that she had once met the royal family.

“A little cameo on @thecrownnetflix,” she wrote. “I still vividly remember visiting Kensington Palace to meet Diana and a teenage William (who had just discovered the “Super Models”).”

Princess Diana Personally Arranged a Meeting Between Her Sons and Cindy Crawford

Cindy Crawford shared the details of the meeting in another Instagram post back in 2017. Along with a photo of herself and Diana, she explained that the former Princess of Whales personally reached out and asked if she could stop by the palace for a chat.

“Remembering this inspiring woman today,” she began. “This photo was taken at Kensington Palace. Princess Diana had somehow got the number to my office and called herself to ask for me. My assistant was in shock! We finally connected and she asked if the next time I was in London I would come by for tea.”

Crawford went on to assume that Prince William had just started noticing models, and she believed Diana wanted to give him and Harry a “cute surprise.”

“I was nervous and didn’t know what to wear, but remember as soon as she came into the room and we started talking,” she continued. “It was like talking to a girlfriend. She was a class act and showed us all what a modern day princess should be. Rest In Peace.”

Princess Diana tragically died not long after meeting Cindy Crawford. She passed following a car accident in Paris on August 31, 1997. She was 36.
