Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards have put down the pitchforks and are going through a peaceful time in their relationship. Sheen told People that “we’re absolutely friendly.” At one point, accusations were flying around between both of them.
He adds, “We went through so much s— together that I don’t think either one of us has any energy left to be divisive. The only thing that matters is the kids. We knew we had to park our nonsense and focus on the children because they had nothing to do with any of our crud.”
Richards started gaining attention in the late 1990s for her role in the movie Starship Troopers. She also gained notoriety for being a Bond girl in the movie The World Is Not Enough.
Charlie Sheen Started Dating Denise Richards in 2000
Sheen and Richards started dating in 2000 before getting engaged in 2001. The couple was married in 2002.
But Sheen himself was living a double-edged life. He was on the then-red-hot sitcom Two and a Half Men along with a drug and alcohol addiction. It led to Chuck Lorre, the show’s creator, firing Sheen in 2003.
Then, in 2004, Richards and Sheen had their first daughter, Sami, now 19. In the next year, they had Lola, now 18. Richards, though, who had been on the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, filed for divorce in 2005. She accused Sheen of making death threats against her. They finalized their divorce in 2006.
Now, Sheen says of his previous marriage, “Even in the hottest portions of depths of the inferno, we were still able to maintain a perspective that yes, the children need to come first. Now we’re super friendly, and we’re actually able to process so much of it through humor these days.” Sheen also says, “You get a little distance, and it’s like, ‘Really? We were so upset about that?’”
Actor Slowly Making A Return to Television
Right now, Sheen is making a quiet comeback to television. He’s got a part in Bookie, which also was created by Lorre. Sheen has made amends with Lorre. Also, Sheen is quite aware that coming back to the spotlight also puts his past in there, too.
“It would be impossible to write about the Charlie Sheen and Chuck Lorre reunion without dropping in a few nuggets from the demise,” Sheen said. “Right now, I’m processing a lot more of it than I would normally, and that’s OK. That’s OK. If I’m being called to address it, to get inside of it a little deeper because of this [return to work], that’s fine too.”
With Sheen and Lorre now making peace between them, there’s a good chance Charlie will find more work.
