Legendary Rocky actor Burt Young has died at the age of 83. The cause of his death is currently unknown.
The New York Times is reporting that he passed away in Los Angeles, California on October 8th. The news was confirmed by his daughter, Anne Morea Steingieser.
Once the news broke, fans quickly took to the internet to share their condolences and memories. His career, which spanned over 6 decades, left a lasting impact on many.
Burt Young was a scene stealer throughout the entire Rocky franchise, but his performance in Rocky Balboa was tremendous. Could argue it was his best performance as Paulie.

The Rocky franchise is without a doubt a highlight of Young’s career. Over the course of 6 films, he left fans with many quotable lines—some of which are being shared on social media.
RIP, Burt Young! A beautiful and talented soul. He was such an integral part of the Rocky family. “You want the bird? Go get the bird.” Paulie will be with us forever! #BePeace

Young’s “Paulie” character in the Rocky franchise changed quite a bit over each film. The character seemed to be softened by life over time. But early on, he was the hard-nosed tough guy that Rocky needed in his corner to reach his full potential.
Burt Young’s Paulie was turned into a cuddly caricature in the “Rocky” sequels — but in the original, Mr. Young was brilliant in his portrayal of Paulie as a grubby street character straight out of a Scorsese film. RIP good sir. pic.twitter.com/38Vn5Rk14t

Burt Young Was a Star on Screen Outside of the ‘Rocky’ Franchise
While Young may be best remembered for his work in the Rocky movies, he also appeared in other notable films. Many fans will remember him in Chinatown, The Gambler, and The Killer Elite.
Memories of non-Rocky films are also on the minds of those who loved Young’s work online.
R.I.P. Burt Young, one of those actors you were always stoked to see. His arc as Paulie in the Rocky films is absolutely fascinating, and he brought his greasy charm to Chinatown, Once Upon A Time In America, Amityville II: The Possession, The Pope Of Greenwich Village, and more. pic.twitter.com/VSYp8GpIpW
