Britney Spears’ Father Has Leg Amputated Following Infection

Britney Spears’ Father Has Leg Amputated Following Infection

A recent infection has reportedly led Britney Spears’ father Jamie Spears to have amputation surgery on one of his legs.

According to Fox News, it is unclear what kind of infection led to the amputation. The medical emergency came a little over two years after Britney was released from her 13-year controversial conservatorship. Her father was in charge of the financial situation.

In December 2022, Jamie Spears spoke to the Daily Mail about his relationship with Britney. He also defended his role in the conservatorship. “I love my daughter with all my heart and soul,” he said at the time. “Where would Britney be right now without that conservatorship? And I don’t know if she’d be alive. I don’t.”

Britney wrote about the relationship between her and her father, as well as the conservatorship, in her recently released memoir The Woman in Me. She also told PEOPLE, “Over the past 15 years or even at the start of my career, I sat back while people spoke about me and told my story for me. After getting out of my conservatorship, I was finally free to tell my story without consequences from the people in charge of my life.”

Britney Spears Admitted to Lying and Crying Every Day While Under the Conservatorship

In June 2021, Britney Spears publicly spoke out about her conservatorship for the first time as she challenged it in court.

“I’ve led and told the whole world I’m ok and I’m happy,” she admitted. “I’m not happy. I can’t sleep. I’m depressed. I cry every day.”

Spears also shared in her testimony she was put on lithium “out of nowhere” and her own family didn’t interfere in the situation. “Not only did my family not do a goddamn thing, my dad was all for it,” she claimed. “Anything that happened to me had to be approved by my dad.”

Britney Spears then called out Jamie for acting like he didn’t know that she was told she had to be tested over the Christmas holidays before they sent her away. “He was the one who approved all of it. My whole family did nothing.”

That following month, Britney Spears declared she had pressed charges against her father and demanded he be investigated for what he had done to her over the years. She also referred to the conservatorship as “f—ing cruelty”

“If this is not abuse, I don’t know what is,” she added. Months after she initiated that investigation, Spears was finally freed of the conservatorship.
