Actress Bridgette Wilson is currently battling ovarian cancer. Her husband, tennis legend Pete Sampras, broke the news on X (formerly Twitter) on October 29th. Sampas is asking for “good thoughts and prayers” for his entire family as Wilson continues her journey.
In a statement released via the ATP Tour X account, Sampras said, “As most have come to know, I am a pretty quiet and private person. However, this past year has been an exceptionally challenging time for my family and I have decided to share what’s been going on. Last December, my wife, Bridgette, was diagnosed with ovarian cancer. Since then, she has had major surgery, pushed through chemotherapy, and continues with targeted maintenance therapy.”
“With that said, I will end this by humbly asking for good thoughts and prayers for our family as Bridgette continues to thrive on her healing journey,” he continued.

Bridgette Wilson’s Star Shined Bright in Hollywood
Bridgette Wilson’s acting career spanned from 1993 to 2008. She had no problem finding work, as she appeared in films such as Last Action Hero, Higher Learning, Mortal Kombat, and Billy Madison. She was also crowned Miss Teen USA in 1990, and in 2020, did voice-over work for a Mortal Kombat video game.
While Sampras may be a big tennis star, Wilson was quite the athlete, too. In an interview in 2002, she spoke highly of her amateur basketball, volleyball, and track days.
“I played varsity on all of them for four years. I’m 5’9 and that’s not that tall for a center so I was a forward,” she recalled. “I loved playing volleyball and basketball and track I was good at it, but it stressed me out. I realized the difficulty of an individual sport over team sports.”
It’s safe to say she Wilson has a huge team of supporters behind her right now.
