Sharon Osbourne came to Ozzy’s defense after Kanye West used her husband’s song without permission. Not only did she blast the rapper to the press, but she’s also considering taking legal action.
West used a sample of Black Sabbath’s War Pigs to promote his new album Carnival, which is a collaboration with Ty Dolla $ign. The rapper initially asked the band for permission, but they said, “No.”
Ozzy Osbourne took to X to explain why the request was denied.
“@kanyewest ASKED PERMISSION TO SAMPLE A SECTION OF A 1983 LIVE PERFORMANCE OF “WAR PIG” FROM THE US FESTIVAL WITHOUT VOCALS & WAS REFUSED PERMISSION BECAUSE HE IS AN ANTISEMITE AND HAS CAUSED UNTOLD HEARTACHE TO MANY,” he wrote.
“HE WENT AHEAD AND USED THE SAMPLE ANYWAY AT HIS ALBUM LISTENING PARTY LAST NIGHT,” Ozzy added. “I WANT NO ASSOCIATION WITH THIS MAN!”
TMZ noted that the song was used in Vultures, but it does not appear to be War Pigs. Instead, it sounds like Iron Man.
Sharon Osbourne’s Legal Team Sent Kanye West a Cease and Desist Letter
While Ozzy was furious about the situation, Sharon took it a step further and said she sent a cease and desist letter to West.
“Kanye f–ked with the wrong Jew this time,” she told TMZ.
The former The View host explained that West asked to use the music three weeks ago, and both Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne went out of their way to refuse West’s request. Sharon said that Ozzy typically allows artists to use his songs. But he had a “special f—king occasion to say no” because West “represents hate.”
Sharon said the entire Osbourne family wants to dissociate with Kanye. If he doesn’t back down, they will likely follow up with the cease and desist and push legal action.
