Last year, McDonald’s vowed to please taste buds with upgraded burgers: soft buns, dreamy melting cheese, and perfectly seared patties. The changes were initially introduced on the West Coast in 2023 and have since been gradually implemented nationwide. It’s safe to say that these changes have elicited various reactions from fans, not always positive. The company has now announced that the burger changes will be implemented in all McDonald’s locations across the country by early 2024.
According to a report by The Wall Street Journal, the fast-food behemoth has introduced new changes to its burger recipe in order to achieve juicier burgers. In addition to that, McDonald’s is also striving to create the most exceptional burgers ever.
Chris Young, McDonald’s senior director of global menu strategy, weighed in on the burger shake-up. “We can do it quick, fast and safe, but it doesn’t necessarily taste great. So, we want to incorporate quality into where we’re at,” Young explained.

What can burger enthusiasts anticipate from these new and enhanced creations? Firstly, the grilling process will now involve six patties at a time, as opposed to eight. This adjustment will reduce the pressure exerted by the auto-cooking mechanism, resulting in juicier burgers, according to reports.
Not only will the burgers flaunt buttery brioche buns, but they’ll also come with a thicker bottom slice to keep the heat locked in. And that’s not all… McDonald’s has some cheesy, lettucey, and tomatoey surprises in store.
McDonald’s burgers are getting some exciting updates. The chain says to get ready for more sauce on Big Macs, melty cheese, fresher lettuce, and pickles. Now, they’ll grill six patties at a time for even more deliciousness. The brioche buns will have a thicker bottom, and the onions will be rehydrated after purchase. The fast-food titans will also be spacing out the sesame seeds for that perfect touch.
Word on the street is that the much-awaited updates will be hitting every McDonald’s joint in the US of A by early 2024. Brace yourselves for the McMakeover!
McDonald’s not only aims to enhance its burger offerings but also to establish a ubiquitous presence. According to CNN, the renowned fast-food chain plans to expand its global footprint to 50,000 locations by 2027. As of September 30, there were approximately 41,000 McDonald’s establishments worldwide.
