Dolly Parton’s Halftime Show Has Fans Asking If She Wears Gloves

Dolly Parton’s Halftime Show Has Fans Asking If She Wears Gloves

Dolly Parton’s halftime show on Thursday received praise from NFL and music fans. However, keen observers noticed a detail about her costume. The 77-year-old country music star donned a dazzling cheerleader ensemble. It featured shorts and a crop top, layered over a shimmering skin-colored bodysuit. She also sported some possibly perilous high heels. This eye-catching attire was worn during the halftime performance at the game between the Dallas Cowboys and Washington Commanders.

However, a few observant viewers were quick to notice that Parton’s bodysuit extended all the way to her hands. This gave the country crooner the impression that she was wearing flesh-toned fingerless gloves. “Ever since I learned of Dolly Parton’s gloves and that they are meant to just look like younger hands, I can’t unsee them,” one fan observed on Twitter.

Why Dolly Patron May Have Been Wearing Flesh Tone Gloves During the Halftime Show

For quite some time, there has been speculation about Parton’s choice of wearing skin-colored gloves. Back in 2019, her creative director, Steve Summers, shed light on the reasoning behind this decision.

“People always ask why [Dolly] always wears sleeves—well, she’s 73 years old, and she doesn’t like her elbows,” Summers told InStyle. “[They ask] ‘What’s wrong with her hands?’ She’s 73, and she doesn’t like them! It’s a normal woman thing.” Indeed, others have noted this fact for some time now.

Back in 2017, Dolly Parton was open about using tattoos to help conceal some scarring. “I don’t really like to make a big to-do of [the tattoos] because people make such a big damn deal over every little thing,” she told Vanity Fair at the time. “But most of the tattoos, when I first started, I was covering up some scars that I had, ‘cause I have a tendency to have keloid scar tissue, and I have a tendency where if I have any kind of scars anywhere, then they kind of have a purple tinge that I can never get rid of. So mine are all pastels, what few that I have, and they’re meant to cover some scars. I’m not trying to make some big, bold statement.”

Parton kicked off the halftime show with her beloved anthem “Jolene,” flawlessly transitioning to another timeless hit, “9 to 5.” She also thrilled the audience with her rendition of Queen’s iconic anthem, “We Are the Champions.”

On November 17, the singer-songwriter introduced her latest album, titled Rockstar. This 30-track collection encompasses a blend of covers, original compositions, and remarkable collaborations with renowned artists like Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, Elton John, Pink, and more.
