Joey Fatone of *NSYNC has had his eyeballs glued to a specific Backstreet Boys song that he’s wanted to perform.
Fatone is headed out on a tour with AJ McLean of the Backstreet Boys. It should be one whale of a concert tour with members of those two groups out there. Well, where does Fatone stand on his top Backstreet Boys song?
“We’ve done the show a few times on certain things and I’ve gotten to know certain songs that he does like,” Fatone said during an interview on The Christine & Salt Show. “Like, I think ‘This I Promise You’ he’s always wanted to do. So, we’ve done it. He’s like, ‘Can we do it? Can we do it?’ I’m like, ‘OK, we’ll do it.’ And for me, it was always ‘Quit Playing Games.’ I always loved [it]. I never got a chance to really do that, so that might be a song.”

The tour is titled A Legendary Night, and it’s been something both of them have wanted to do. Fatone talked about it a little more here in the radio interview. “I’ve done a few shows now with AJ, and we’ve always talked about doing something together,” Fatone said, according to Entertainment Tonight. “We didn’t know what that was yet, but we were like, ‘Let’s do something.’”
Fatone said both he and McLean did a show in Tampa, Florida. It happened to be a bit of a ’90s throwback show, he said, but people “loved” it, Fatone said.
“We had such a blast, we had such a fun time doing it, we were like, ‘Why don’t we just put this out there for a couple of shows — see if people want to come see it,” he said.
McLean will be debuting some new songs as part of the tour, Fatone said. Look for Fatone to sing some songs live for the first time. There also will be a shot taken to perform a Nirvana song. Fatone admits that he will give it the good old school try in singing it.
“It was hilarious because I was like, ‘I’m gonna rip my voice,’” Fatone said. “But you know what, it’s toward the end of the show, let’s do it!”
Joey Fatone Has Big Resume of Work
Fatone has been involved in different areas of show business beyond his boy band. He played Cousin Angelo in the movie My Big Fat Greek Wedding, and he reprised it in TV’s My Big Fat Greek Life. Fatone returned as Cousin Angelo in a 2016 sequel.
But he’s also been on Broadway and appeared on TV as himself and in an acting role. There doesn’t seem to be anything that Fatone cannot do. Of course, his greatest success has come with *NSYNC. That boy band has sold more than 70 million records worldwide.
Having him and McLean go out on the road together will be cool for their fans. Maybe Fatone and McLean will pick up some new fans along the way.
Fatone is married to Kelly Baldwin and they have two daughters.
