Mel B Reveals Major Update About Possible Spice Girls Reunion

Mel B Reveals Major Update About Possible Spice Girls Reunion

It feels like it has been forever since the Spice Girls have put new music out into the world, but Mel B. has some news. Mel B. appeared on The Jennifer Hudson Show on Wednesday. She offered up some hope for long-suffering fans of the group.

“I get told off all the time for announcing stuff I’m not meant to announce,” Mel B. known as Scary Spice in the group, said. “But What I can say is we’re definitely working on something together – all five of us. And by me just saying that I’m probably going to get into trouble again.”

That’s highly possible, but Spice Girl fans will go gaga over this news. And we don’t mean Lady Gaga either! Mel B. has been joined in the studio by fellow band members Victoria Beckham, Gerri Halliwell, Melanie C., and Emma Bunton, E! News said.

Spice Girls Have Stayed Friends Over The Years

These women have stayed tight over the years, too. Mel B., whose real name is Melanie Brown, told Hudson that their friendship remains good.

“It’s amazing that we’ve managed to kind of still stay friends, it’s been 30 years,” Mel B., 48, said. “As a group, you’re just welded together for life because you’ve been through such a crazy experience.”

The Spice Girls gained recognition from the music world in 1994. Then the group splintered apart to go do solo projects in 2001. Their last album released was titled Forever and that was around 2001. But they made a kind of comeback in 2019 with a tour without Beckham’s Posh Spice around. This tour was mainly taking place around the United Kingdom.

Mel B., who is the mother of three children, freely admitted that she loves living in the ’90s timeframe, E! News reports.

“I don’t think I’ve ever left it,” she said. “I like ‘90s R&B, ‘90s pop music, (and) ‘90s clothes, ‘90s everything.”

This is not the first time for Mel B. to bring up a Spice Girls reunion. “Oh, I hope so,” she said while walking the red carpet for America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League. “I’ve been saying that every year so let’s hope.”

Group Provided An Answer To Boy Bands

When the Spice Girls first hit the music scene, they were there, in part, to offer an answer to the boy bands out there in the market. They hit it out of the park with their first single, Wannabe. That song went all the way to the No. 1 spot in 37 different countries.

In total, the group has sold 105 million records worldwide. This makes them the biggest-selling girl group of all time. At one point, the Spice Girls reportedly were the most recognized group since The Beatles.

Listening to their music might lead one to put them in the pop category. But as the group moved on from their first to second album, music critics noticed a slight shift in the presentation. One critic actually pointed out more of a personality coming through the music.

The Spice Girls still have a place for their music in the world. Fans who grew up listening to the songs probably pass it along to another generation. The group also has been active in releasing never-before-heard recordings of songs or rehearsals. This gives fans a bit more of an “inside look” as to how the music came together.

By the way, there have been reunion tours before for the group. If all five could really be on board for one, then it would be good news for the fans. And, yes, it would be a pretty good payday for all five members.
