Mariah Carey Sends Brenda Lee Flowers as ‘Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree’ Hits No. 1 on Hot 100

Following the news that Brenda Lee’s Rockin Around the Christmas Tree hit No. 1 on Billboard Hot 100 for the first time, Mariah Carey celebrated the news by showering the iconic singer with congratulatory flowers.

Lee took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a snapshot of the sweet present from Carey. “Thank you for your sweet note, Mariah Carey!” Lee wrote. “Wishing you the merriest Christmas, too!”

The note reads, “Dearest Ms. Brenda, congratulations on your historic No. 1. Have a Merry Christmas. Love, Mariah.”

According to PEOPLE, Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree secured the No. 1 spot on the Billboard Hot 100 earlier this month. The major music milestone comes 65 years after the song’s debut. Lee also broke another record, which was held by Mariah Carey and her hit track All I Want For Christmas Is You. Rockin’ Around the Christmas Tree became the third holiday No. 1 to ever be featured on the Hot 100. This is also Lee’s third No. 1 hit in her career. She notably earned her first No. 1 with her 1960 track I’m Sorry.

“I cannot believe that Rockin’ has hit No. 1 65 years after it was released, this is  just so special!” Lee declared in a press release. “Thank you to the team at UMG/UMe who worked so hard to celebrate the song’s anniversary this year. But most importantly, thank you to the fans who keep listening.”

Mariah Carey recently released a music video for All I Want For Christmas Is You with tour footage.

Mariah Carey Recently Spoke About the Legacy of Her Iconic Track ‘All I Want For Christmas Is You’

Last month, Mariah Carey spoke to ABC News about All I Want For Christmas Is You and its legacy while promoting her Merry Christmas One and All Tour.

“I was working on it by myself,” she said about the track, which is now 30 years old. “On this little Casio keyboard and writing down words and thinking about, ‘What do I think of at Christmas?’” she recalled. The singer also noted there were also more things to think about while writing it. “What do I love? What do I want? And what do I dream of?’ And that’s what started it.”

Carey then said that her goal for the song was to do something timeless. “So it didn’t feel like the ‘90s, which is when I wrote it.”

Mariah Carey went on to add that she has new music in the works. “I’ve been working … on just writing new songs,” she said. “Yesterday we were in the studio working on something with a choir, working on a new song. So it’s exciting.”
