Sylvester Stallone Reveals His Iconic ‘Rocky’ Robe Was Once Stolen

Sylvester Stallone detailed how his iconic Rocky robe from the original film was stolen and how it was recovered in a new video. In 1976, Rocky marked Stallone’s breakthrough as an actor, capturing the hearts of audiences worldwide. This iconic film claimed the coveted Best Picture award at the Oscars, while Stallone himself garnered nominations for Best Actor and Best Original Screenplay.

Nearly 50 years after the release of the iconic boxing film, Stallone shared a peculiar behind-the-scenes anecdote on Instagram. In the video, he proudly displays the red robe worn by Rocky Balboa in the franchise’s inaugural installment. Stallone explains how the robe was taken from his home.

Stallone had no clue about the vanishing robe until it reappeared at an auction. Unveiling the recovered treasure, the actor playfully confessed that it had some quirks, courtesy of the shoestring budget of Rocky. It turns out that the robe was too big and swallowed the actor up. However, despite the robe’s flaws, it’s an important artifact to the veteran actor.

Despite the robe’s flaws, Sylvester Stallone pointed out that “if it had had one more scene, it would have been a character in the film.”

Sylvester Stallone Won’t Need His Rocky Robe For His Next Project

Coming off of his recent Netflix documentary Sly, Stallone remains in high demand. The Rambo star is set to return to Tulsa, Oklahoma to film season two if his hit TV series, Tulsa King.

After its third episode aired in November 2022, Tulsa King was renewed for a second season. However, co-showrunner Terence Winter, renowned for creating Boardwalk Empire and writing the screenplay for Martin Scorsese’s The Wolf of Wall Street, will not be part of Season Two. Winter’s departure was attributed to “creative differences,” as reported by Deadline. Winter was initially a significant addition to the Paramount series. However, it appears that he and Sheridan held divergent visions for the series and its main character.

Tulsa King features a talented cast, including Martin Starr as Bodhi, a weed dealer, Andrea Savage as an ATF agent, Garrett Hedlund as a friendly bartender. Max Casella, known for The Sopranos, plays a former antagonist-turned-reluctant-ally. Plot details and release date are yet to be disclosed. However, Sheridan is reportedly working on Tulsa King alongside projects like the Mayor of Kingstown. The season one finale saw Stallone’s Manfredi returning to jail. This left viewers eagerly anticipating Season Two as he finds himself on the outside once more.
