It’s time to go to battle against some ghosts in this latest adventure in the Ghostbusters franchise called Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. In the film, Paul Rudd returns to battle ghosts in this sequel film to Ghostbusters: Afterlife.
On Wednesday, the trailer was released for the latest movie. We see a very beautiful New York City summer, full of sun and time at the beach. Things change, though, and a rather mysterious death chill keeps New Yorkers busy.
As for some notes on Ghostbusters: Afterlife, the movie premiered in November 2021. It was under the direction of Jason Reitman, son of the late original director Ivan Reitman. In the film, a single mother takes her two children to a small town in Oklahoma. When they get there, they begin to discover their grandfather’s secret.
But they also handle this part, too. They end up finding some connection between the ghost-fighting team and this family.
Gil Kenan Gets In Director’s Chair For ‘Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire’
Gil Kenan will be directing this movie. In the trailer, this movie features appearances from original stars Ernie Hudson, Dan Aykroyd, and Bill Murray. “It’s an absolute honor to pick up the proton pack and step behind the camera for the next chapter of the Spengler family saga,” Kenan said in a statement when he was announced as director. “I just wish I could go back to 1984 and tell the kid in the sixth row of the Mann Valley West that one day he was going to get to direct a Ghostbusters film.”
This will mark the fifth movie in the Ghostbusters franchise. Others include the original in 1984, Ghostbusters II in 1989, the female-led Ghostbusters in 2016, and Ghostbusters: Afterlife in 2021.
Sony is set to release Frozen Empire on March 29.
Besides Rudd, other cast members are Mckenna Grace, Logan Kim, and Carrie Coon. The Spengler family, in the storyline, makes it back to New York City. They end up teaming up with the original team. They have been working on developing a top-secret research lab. It takes busting ghosts to the next act.
Teams Come Together To Fight Off New Foe
When an ancient artifact is starting to unleash an evil force, it takes the old and new Ghostbusters to fight this force away. They work together to avoid another Ice Age.
Look for the three longtime Ghostbusters cast members to have a fuller role in this movie. Keep your eyes peeled for Patton Oswalt to be part of this movie’s cast.
The follow-up movies to the 1984 original have kept the Ghostbusters storyline in the public eye. Murray, Aykroyd, and Hudston have done their parts to add more mystique to the series. Harold Ramis, who was part of the original movie’s cast, is now dead.
And keep your ears open to see if you will hear Ray Parker Jr.’s hit song appearing in the flick again.
