‘Lilo & Stitch’ Live-Action Characters Revealed in Behind the Scenes Video

A fresh set video from the Lilo & Stitch remake reveals the iconic Disney characters stepping into the live-action spotlight. Inspired by the 2002 animated hit, this live-action film will unravel the chaos in a young girl’s world when a dog-like alien crashes in.

Directed by Dean Fleischer Camp, known for Marcel the Shell with Shoes On, this film showcases a blend of familiar faces and fresh talent. The cast includes Chris Sanders reprising his role as Stitch, Maia Kealoha as Lilo, as well as Sydney Agudong, Billy Magnussen, and Zach Galifianakis.

Almost a year after the planned filming date, TikTok user @paulinapullara revealed a video from the live-action Lilo & Stitch remake. The footage showcases the first glimpse of the live-action design of alien Stitch.

The video showcases crew members taking over a public street in Hawaii, orchestrating a whimsical scene with a young girl and alien cruising in a convertible car. These are the first live-action appearances of Kealoha as Lilo, while a charming stand-in embodies Stitch in the driver’s seat. Images from the video were shared on X (formerly Twitter).

Fans React to Live-Action Versions of Lilo & Stitch

Of course, Disney fans flocked to X to weigh in on seeing glimpses of Lilo and Stitch in live action. “I would be so very happy if that’s exactly what Stitch would look like,” one fan wrote. “Want to hug this stitch so tightly and I can’t be the only one wanting that,” one Disney lover gushed. “Live Action Version of LILO and Stitch look very Cartoon Accurate,” another fan offered.

However, it seems some Disney lovers are getting a bit tired of the long line of remakes. “It’s not too late [to] throw this movie in the garbage and release something original instead,” a fan opined.

While Lilo & Stitch may not have been Disney‘s top blockbuster, the movie wrapped up 2002 as the second highest-grossing animated film, just behind Ice Age. It sparked various movie and TV spin-offs through the years. The newest installment to the franchise is a live-action remake of the original movie, adding to the legacy of this beloved series.

The live-action remake of Lilo & Stitch encountered numerous hurdles during its development and production process. Initially scheduled to begin in March 2023, production was delayed until April of the same year. Unfortunately, a fire on set forced an indefinite shutdown, triggering an arson investigation. While production recommenced in May, strikes by SAG-AFTRA and the Writers Guild of America resulted in another prolonged halt.
