Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Road House’ Remake Drops First Full Trailer

Jake Gyllenhaal’s ‘Road House’ Remake Drops First Full Trailer

If you have been waiting for the new Road House trailer starring Jake Gyllenhaal, then you’re in luck as it is finally out. Gyllenhaal reprises Patrick Swayze’s role in this updated take on that movie. Road House, which also features UFC star Conor McGregor, will be premiering on Amazon Prime Video on March 21.

Gyllenhaal’s character is Elwood Dalton, a former UFC fighter who is looking to better his life. A roadhouse owner finds Dalton sleeping in his car in the Florida Keys. That owner helps Dalton become a bouncer at his place.

Soon, though, Dalton becomes engulfed in clashes between outlaws and bikers. Also involved is a land developer who wants to create a resort for “rich assholes” to visit.

Road House comes from Amazon MGM Studios.

Jessica Williams plays the roadhouse owner in the movie. In an interview with Variety, Williams said that Gyllenhaal was an “insane actor.”

“Every time, you’re learning,” Williams said. “My job as an actor, especially on ‘Shrinking,’ is to make everyone look good by knowing what the hell I’m doing on set. I love volleying, and I got to do that with Jake.”

‘Road House’ Brings Original Producer On Board

Director Doug Liman is behind the camera on this Jake Gyllenhaal film. “I’m thrilled to put my own spin on the beloved ‘Road House’ legacy,” Liman said in a statement. “And I can’t wait to show audiences what Jake and I are going to do with this iconic role.”

Joel Silver produces Road House for his Silver Pictures company. “The original ‘Road House’ has a special place in my heart, and I am so excited to bring this newly imagined version to audiences around the world,” Silver said.

Silver is joined by executive producers JJ Hook, Alison Winter, and Aaron Auch. Silver also was the producer for the 1989 film. Anthony Bagarozzi and Charles Mondry were scriptwriters for this movie.

Other cast members in Road House include Billy Magnussen, Daniela Melchior, Gbemisola Ikumelo, Lukas Gage, Hannah Love Lanier, Travis Van Winkle, B.K. Cannon, Arturo Castro, Dominique Columbus, Beau Knapp, and Bob Menery.

Jake Gyllenhaal Tackles Swayze’s Role

Jake Gyllenhaal talked about playing a role Swayze made iconic in a 2022 interview with Good Morning America. “They’re big shoes to fill, but Patrick was a friend when he was here,” Gyllenhaal said. “He was always so loving and lovely to me. I take that all to heart in playing the role and there are some things I take from him, but generally, we made a whole new movie and I’m really excited about it.”

For his part, McGregor learned some things about acting from Gyllenhaal. He offered the movie’s star some high praise during an interview with the Daily Mail. “Great man. Great guy. He’s very patient with me, helpful,” McGregor said. “We shot some good stuff for the movie and can’t wait to see it come to fruition.”

To be clear, McGregor has a role as a character in the movie. He will not be appearing as himself.

It also will be interesting to see the streaming numbers for Road House. Because it will be streaming globally on Amazon Prime Video, looking at the data will give producers much-needed feedback.
