Jake Gyllenhaal Declares ‘Pain Don’t Hurt’ in ‘Road House’ First Look

If you have been looking forward to getting a sneak peek at Road House starring Jake Gyllenhaal, then this is your lucky day. On Thursday, Amazon Prime Video posted a video with highlights of new and upcoming projects. Gyllenhaal stars in this movie, which is reportedly being termed a “reimagining” of the original 1989 movie.

Gyllenhaal, in this very brief clip that starts around 90 seconds into the video, gets tough with some guys in a scene. So, the film clip already establishes that his character will be tough. Road House will be out sometime in 2024. It will be on Amazon Prime Video. Surrounded by a lot of tough guys, Gyllenhaal hits one just before uttering a line. “Oo, I just slapped you, are you alright?” he said. And then the whole group of people there in one moment start firing each other. Gyllenhaal’s character is reportedly a former UFC fighter. In a quick view early on in this video, we can see a ripped-up Gyllenhaal in a ring.

Details about Road House have been like a well-kept secret. There’s not a lot of information available at this time.

This clip is part of an entire compilation of movies and shows that Amazon Prime Video has prepared for 2024.

Jake Gyllenhaal Pays Tribute To Original Movie

Gyllenhaal has definitely been getting into the spirit of playing Elwood Dalton. This past Tuesday, the actor turned 43 years old. In an Instagram post on Wednesday, Gyllenhaal wears a Road House T-shirt. He also expressed his thanks to all of the fans for their birthday wishes.

A synopsis of the upcoming movie indicates that Dalton will “take a job as a bouncer at a rough-and-tumble roadhouse in the Florida Keys, but soon discovers that not everything is what it seems in this tropical paradise.” Of course, fans of the original Road House movie know that Patrick Swayze played the lead role.

According to People, Gyllenhaal recently filmed a part for the movie at an actual UFC event in Las Vegas. He showed up for a weigh-in as Dalton, followed by his opponent Jack Harris, who will be played by MMA champion Jay Hieron. At the same time, legendary UFC fighter Conor McGregor was there, too. He spent a few minutes playing “hype man” for the scene that was being filmed.

McGregor reportedly turned to the crowd in Las Vegas and said, “We’ve got the biggest fight in Road House history, Harris versus Dalton UFC 222. Everyone in this arena, you’re about to be part of my movie that’s coming out with me, Jake Gyllenhaal, and A Joel Silver production. Make sure to cheer for the weigh-ins and let’s go Las Vegas.”

Road House is scheduled to make its premiere on March 21, 2024. Doug Liman, who directed The Bourne Identity and Edge of Tomorrow, is behind the camera for this movie. Other cast members include Billy Magnussen, Travis Van Winkle, Daniela Melchior, Jessica Williams, and McGregor.
