‘Ghostbusters’ Yule Log Video Celebrates the Holidays with Slimer

The Ghostbusters YouTube channel has given fans a special treat this holiday season with a Slimer starring Yule Log video. Taking place within the iconic Ghostbuster Firehouse, this six-hour-long video revolves around the green spud. The mischievous ghost is initially depicted enjoying a cozy moment in front of the fireplace, engrossed in reading the pages of the Manhattan Adventurers Society. It’s all backed by Elmer Bernstein’s original film compositions.

Naturally, the wandering vapor quickly craves popcorn, cheesy snacks, and Christmas tree cookies. It leisurely drifts across the Ghostbusters‘ firehouse to indulge in these festive delights, the yuletide logs crackling in the background.

Ghostbusters enthusiasts will immediately spot numerous references in the Yule log video. Above the fireplace, a mounted Terror Dog head commands attention, while a crew photo commemorates the conclusion of the highly anticipated sequel, Frozen Empire. The familiar sight of symmetrical book stacking includes titles such as Slime and Its Various Moods, Parabotany: A Beginner’s Guide, and the renowned Patience & Fortitude.

Watching further reveals a reference to the recently released trailer for Frozen Empire. The Death Chill, a prominent feature in the upcoming film, periodically freezes the room. The book Patience & Fortitude is also occasionally taken from the stack and sent levitating. Could the ghost of Egon Spangler be doing some research?

This Isn’t the First Ghostbusters Yule Log Video…

Indeed, this is not the first time we have seen a Yule Log video with a Ghostbusters theme. Two years ago, as part of the holiday promotion for Ghostbusters: Afterlife, a Mini-Puft marshmallow man was roasted.

Meanwhile, Sony Pictures recently released a new film poster for Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire. The image depicts a bone-chilling showdown as the Ghostbusters step up to safeguard New York City and prevent a frosty doomsday.

Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire is set to drop in theaters on Easter weekend, March 29th, 2024. It stars Paul Rudd, Carrie Coon, Mckenna Grace, Finn Wolfhard, Logan Kim, Celeste and O’Connor. OG Ghostbusters alums Bill Murray, Dan Aykroyd, Ernie Hudson, and Annie Potts are also set to return. As the Ghostbusters Yuletide log video implies, Slimer is also set to make an appearance. New additions to the Ghostbusters cast include Kumail Nanjiani, Patton Oswalt, James Acaster, and Emily Alyn Lind.

If you need another Ghostbusters holiday treat to tide you over, the franchise already has you covered. 1989’s Ghostbusters 2 is set during the holidays, with its climax taking place on New Year’s Eve…
